Georgia began as a British colony in 1733 and is located in the southeastern part of the United States. It´s nickname is “Peach State” and Georgia´s peaches are well known for their texture, nutritious qualities and superior flawour. Georgia is sometimes even called “Empire State of the South”. Georgia is the largest state east of the Mississippi River. Georgia borders Alabama to the west, Florida to the south, South Carolina and Atlantic Ocean to the east and Tennessee and North Carolina to the north. The northen part of Georgia is in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The capital of Georgia is Atlanta and is also the most populous city.
Hot and humid summers are typical for Georgia and the major of the state receives moderate to heavy precipitation.
For many years, Georgia has been ranked the top state in the nation to do business and the world’s busiest airport, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport as measured by both passenger traffic and aircraft traffic, is located in Georgia.
Important agricultural products are corn, cotton, tobacco, soybeans, eggs, and peaches. Georgia produces twice as many peanuts as the next leading state and is also the number one producer of pecans in the world. Georgia also has a textile industry.

For tourists there is a lot of major attractions to see and do in Georgia such as The World of Coca-Cola museum, Stone Mountain Park, The Savannah Historic District which attracts over eleven million tourists each year and if you like golf, the city Augusta is hosting one of the most prestigious tourist attractions in Georgia each spring, the Masters Golf Tournament.
