Alaska is a state located in the northwest of North America.
Alaska is the largest state in the U.S by area (twice the size of Texas) and by population the 3rd least which makes Alaska to the most sparsely populated of all States.
Approximately half of Alaska´s residents live within the Anchorage metropolitan area.

Alaska is the only state in U.S to have coastlines on three different seas (Pacific Ocean, Arctic Ocean and the Bering Sea) and has a longer coastline than all other U.S states combined. Alaska does not border any other U.S state.

The Capital city of Alaska is Juneau since 1906 and the largest city is Anchorage. Alaska´s nickname is The Last Frontier.
Juneau has no road access to the rest of Alaska or the rest of North America, although there is ferry service for cars.

The climate in Alaska varies from different parts of the state. In the extreme north of Alaska it is polar climate with cool summers and very cold winters, even in July the average low temperature can be 34°F and snow can stay on the ground almost the entire year.
Fort Yukon has had the highest and lowest temperature ever recorded in Alaska, the highest was on June 27, 1915 when it reached 100°F and the lowest record was -78°F (until 1971). Fairbanks is commonly known as Americas coldest city.
Barrow (Utqiagvik), Alaska has the longest and shortest day when the sun sets in mid November it remains for about 65 days until late January. From around mid May until around July 31 the sun remains over the horizon the entire day.
Barrow (Utqiagvik) is also one of the cloudiest place on earth.

Alaska has more than 130 volcanoes. About 80 percent of the United States active volcanoes will be found in Alaska and many of them occur along the Alaska Peninsula and Aleutian Island that is a part of “Ring of Fire”.

The oil and gas industry dominates the Alaskan economy and it´s main export product is seafood, primarily salmon, cod, Pollock and crab.
Military bases and tourism are also a significant part of the economy of Alaska.

Every year, travelers from all over the world come to Alaska to see The Northen Lights (Alaska is one of the best places on earth to see the northen light).
In Fairbanks The Northen Lights can be seen 243 days a year.
